Since 2012, I've trained year-round to race Hawaiian outrigger canoes on the open ocean. My longest paddling race is 18 miles for the Queen Liki'uokalani race in Kona, Hawaii: the largest outrigger canoe race in the world. I share that experience with veterans, cancer survivors, and people with special needs. Beyond the racing, I have experience mentoring new paddlers, and coordinating large group events. I love exercising outdoors with people who feel the same way!

Paddling FAQs:
- How long does it take to paddle 18 miles? Under 3 hours.
- What does it feel like? Very similar to walking a half-marathon where you're moving continuously.
- Do you also paddle sprint races? Yes, but I prefer iron distances where I can get into a rhythm and spend more time on the water.
- Do you paddle 9-man races? No, I really like to put my energy into the paddling. While I'm good at hopping out of a canoe, I don't appreciate the hassle of climbing back into a moving canoe, plus the associated bruising...repeatedly!
